ReelShort
ReelShort is developed by New Leaf Publishing and, according to Sensor Tower, was the top-grossing short drama app in Q1 2025 [2]. On the App Store it holds a 4.7 rating from about 14,100 ratings and is rated 12+ [1].
Strengths: a very large catalog, productions with real actors, mostly American, and a fully translated app. It's also one of the few that spells out how to keep going without paying: if you don't want to buy coins, you can continue by watching ads or collecting daily bonuses [1].

DramaBox
DramaBox is made by STORYMATRIX PTE. LTD, rated 4.6 from about 13,500 ratings, age 17+ [1]. Its official description promises new series every week with episodes just a few minutes long.
Strengths: frequent releases and a very large catalog of productions with actors.

ShortMax
ShortMax comes from SHORTTV LIMITED: 4.6 from about 7,200 ratings, age 17+ [1]. Like the others, it runs on coins and a subscription.
Strengths: a broad catalog of mini dramas with actors and a translated app. Many people look it up to understand its subscription; we cover that in ShortMax explained.
NetShort
NetShort is made by NETSTORY PTE. LTD., rated 4.7 from about 15,700 ratings, age 12+ [1].
Strengths: lots of ratings and a high score, plus a lower age rating than DramaBox and ShortMax. Same model: coins for episodes and a subscription.
DramaWave
DramaWave is developed by SKYWORK AI PTE LTD and, among the apps compared here, has the most ratings and the highest score: 4.8 from about 22,000, age 12+ [1].
Strengths: very strong user approval and a large catalog of vertical mini series. Coins and a subscription here too.

There's no single "best". These are the criteria that matter most for most people.
1. The language of the shows, not just the app
A translated interface doesn't mean translated shows. Many series on the big apps are US or Asian productions; dubbing and subtitles vary from series to series, so open the first episode before spending anything.
2. How much you can watch for free
